NEW BRIGHTON, Penn. —  A newlywed shot and killed her 21-year-old niece Thursday night at a post-wedding party, police said.

Christina George, 30, faces homicide and related charges in the death of Katelyn “Kaytee” Francis of Fairmont, W.Va, according to the Post-Gazette.

Francis, a young mother, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was flown by medical helicopter to the hospital, where she died early Friday morning, police said.

The victim, George and George’s new husband, Jeremy Harvan, were out drinking and celebrating the couple’s wedding when Harvan became drunk, the newspaper reported.

The three got into an argument about who was going to drive his truck home. Police believe George grabbed a 9mm Glock her husband kept in the center console and shot her niece in the torso.

George has admitted to firing the gun, but has not commented on the full circumstances.
