Gov. Hickenlooper leads all four Republican challengers in latest poll

DENVER — Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper leads all four Republican challengers in a poll released Wednesday morning by Quinnipiac University.

The poll shows Hickenlooper beating former Congressman Tom Tancredo 47 percent to 40 percent; Secretary of State Scott Gessler, 48 percent to 38 percent; former Sen. Mike Kopp 47 percent to 38 percent; and former Congressman Bob Beauprez 48 percent to 39 percent.

The poll did not survey Republicans for their preference for the June 24 primary.

Hickenlooper’s favorability rating is at 51 percent, while his unfavorability rating is at 37 percent.

In all 1,298 registered voters were surveyed from April 15-21. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.

Women gave the governor a strong favorability rating, 58 percent to 30 percent, while men were split, with 44 percent favoring and 45 percent not.
