TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Police in New Jersey say a man was released from prison after serving 15 years for robbing a shoe store and went back to the same shop — and robbed it again.
Christopher Miller was arrested in 1999 after he forced employees at a Stride Rite store into the back room, then tied them up and left with cash.
He was released from prison Friday after serving 15 years. But police say he took a bus from Atlantic City, N.J., to Toms River on Saturday — and went to the same store.
Employees told police that Miller demanded cash and told two workers to go to the back room, but they refused. After becoming upset, police say he took the cash register drawer, which had $389, the workers’ cellphones and left on foot.
He was later found with the cash stuffed in a gutter and the phones in a trash can.
