Forget Spring Fever, folks were lined up at Coors Field, shivering.

The Opening Day RockPile and Rooftop standing-room-only tickets went on sale Saturday morning.  They were in such high demand, a lottery system decided the lucky few.

It wasn't the usual scene at Coors Field. Instead of empty beer cups, people held hot chocolate and coffee cups. Fans lined up and bundled up to get their wristbands and wait for the chance to score tickets.

The tickets went fast, and many fans walked away with Rooftop tickets, a new item for the 2014 season.

One fan said, "Standing-room-only, but hey, you get in the game."

Others were eager to see the new roof-top spot.

"We`re excited to check out the new roof top," said Jessica Moore.

For many, this was about tradition.

Maggie Petray said, "This is my third year, and I love the way they do it now."

Krista Azer said, "We were at the very first Opening Day when the Rockies first started.”

For others, it was  about nostalgia.

Brett Moore explained, "Everyone, I think, is 5-years-old when they walk through the field on Opening Day. It takes you back to your childhood.”

For every Rockies fan waiting in line and looking on the bright side of a cold morning, one thing was for sure, nothing could cloud the optimism or quell the baseball fever of these fans.

"We`re hoping April 4 is 75 and sunny," said Moore.

Opening Day is April 4 at 2:10 p.m. against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
