DENVER — A Colorado State Patrol trooper was “seriously” injured during Wednesday morning’s multi-carjaking and chase.

CSP spokesman Nate Reid told FOX31 Denver that Trooper Bellamann Hee was one of two trying to throw stop sticks to stop the suspect, Ryan Stone.

Stop sticks are a an extendable strip of spikes designed to puncture the wheels of a vehicle and stop it.

The troopers tried to deploy them at E-470 near Chambers.

“After he throws the (stop) sticks, the suspect veered his direction,” Reid said.
“The trooper ran out of the way, attempted to get out of the way by jumping the guard rail and subsequently was hit and kind of pinned under the guard rail by the vehicle.”

The trooper’s name and his condition have not yet been released.  Bellamann underwent surgery at a hospital.

Reid said he is expected to make a full recovery.
