40 Air Force Academy cadets investigated in cheating probe
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The Air Force Academy says that about 40 of its 500 freshmen cadets enrolled in a chemistry course are under investigation for suspected Honor Code violations related to cheating.
A statement from the Air Force Academy says portions of a lab report assignment were allegedly copied and not documented either from previous semester reports or current student reports.
“We are sorely disappointed in this extremely small segment of our 4,000-plus cadet population,” said Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson, Academy Superintendent. “While we believe that the young men and women here will be forged – and forge themselves – into leaders of character for our Air Force and the Nation, we also realize that not every one of our 4,000-plus cadets will meet the high standards we expect of them and we will hold them accountable when they fail to live up to those high standards in accordance with the Academy Honor Code.”
The honor review process for these cases continues. Consequences can range from honor remediation, probation or disenrollment from the Academy.AlertMe
