GEORGETOWN, Colo. -- Georgetown Valley Candy Company is one business that said it has seen a “slight” increase in foot traffic since the Colorado Department of Transportation started implementing tactics to better control weekend, winter traffic.

Recently, CDOT started using wave escorts to ensure that eastbound I-70 traffic on Sunday afternoons could move steadily and have fewer delays.

One Georgetown Valley Candy Company employee said some drivers will stop and shop in towns like Idaho Springs and Georgetown to wait out traffic congestion when heading back from the High Country.
