BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- Ask any young child what they want to be when they grow up and many will say "a super-hero."

A 9-year-old in Broomfield has already achieved that goal in the eyes of his mother. The boy's quick-thinking saved his mom from severe injury ... or worse.

Cody Wasserburger and his mom, Dawn, were leaving the house Sunday for a snowboarding lesson. They got in the minivan and started to head out of the garage.

Dawn says she realized she forgot something. "So I told Cody to just hang on a sec ... I'm gonna' run inside real quick and get my sunglasses."

In a rush she says she jumped out of the van but didn't get in "park."

"I stepped out of the car. My foot was caught in like that [between the seat and the floor], and I fell to the side. The car dragged me through the garage."

Within seconds she was pinned against the frame of the garage opening, unable to move and barely able to breathe.

Cody says, "I was out of my seat, jumping into the front seat of the car."

"She was saying to hit the brake, but I didn't know which one that is so I pushed on one of them and then the car went forward. Then I immediately pushed the other," Cody says.

"When he was able to pull me forward, definitely he saved me," Dawn says.

The scare proves you don't need a cape or super-powers to be a hero.

"I absolutely think he's a hero," Dawn says.

Cody reacts the way any loving son would. "I'm very, very happy that I helped my mom."

Dawn did suffer a broken leg and some cuts. But this could've been a lot worse had it not been for the actions of Cody.
