DENVER -- Sports Authority Field is getting a makeover just in time for the American Football Conference Championship game between New England and Denver.

“We get our paint from Mississippi,” said turf manager Chris Hathaway. “The paint we use holds up well during game conditions, we can mow it out when the game is over, and the colors show well on the television.”

The 12-person turf team began painting the field on Tuesday, finishing up Thursday. Some of the logos are painted by hand; others use both hand and machine sprayers to get the colors down on the field.

Even if we get any rain or snow between now and Sunday … most of the special paint should hold up.

“Our crew takes pride in making sure this field will look super when the Pats and Broncos take the field. This year we haven’t had but a few games where the weather affected designs used on the field. With temps supposed to be around 60 degrees, we hope our work rubs off on how the home team plays,” said Hathaway.

All that’s left to say is, Go Broncos!
