DENVER — Denver police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting of a 76-year-old man in north Denver.

Officers were called to a home on Lafayette Street near E. 37th Avenue Sunday afternoon.

One man was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Officers arrested a second man on scene, police said.

Monday the Denver corner identified the victim as Jose Diaz-Luevano, 76.

Clay Beaza-Garcia is being held on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the shooting.

A search of Beaza-Garcia’s records found he had been arrested on several occasions including drugs, trespassing, public nuisance, child custody issues and driving on a suspended license.
