Fatal skiing accident on Aspen Mountain

ASPEN, Colo. — A male skier died after hitting a tree on Aspen Mountain’s Bellisimo run Saturday.

According to the Aspen Times, Aspen resident Jonathan Stuart, 56, was found by another skier shortly before 3 p.m. The skier contacted the Ski Patrol, who arrived at the scene to find Stuart unconscious.

There were no witnesses to the incident. However, authorities said they believe Stuart left the main ski trail and crashed into the tree, incurring trauma to the head.

Stuart was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
