CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- Ashley Rockwell sits by her iPhone, waiting for the next tweet to come in.

“My phone alerts went off all last night,” she said, sitting in her bedroom while closely monitoring her Twitter page, DiplomaToClaire.

“I am just a kid who is in a big community, who doesn’t see tragic things happen that much,” said Rockwell.

At only 14, Rockwell wanted to help, and came up with the idea to get the parents of Claire Davis her high school diploma.

Davis is the high school senior who died in the Dec. 13 shooting at Arapahoe High School.

“I didn’t know Claire,” said Rockwell. “But I wanted to make a difference.”

Rockwell has also launched an online petition.

“We have something like 246 signatures and I am trying to get more,” Rockwell told FOX31 Denver. Her goal is 1,000. “It is a big number, because if we get 1,000, it will say something.”

She’s even tried to enlist the help of Claire’s favorite band, she said.

“I am trying to get One Direction, but they take forever,” she said.

Ashley said it only takes one signature to show you care and to make a difference.

“She wants to give them (Claire’s parents) a glimmer of something positive to look forward to and that’s her ultimate goal,” said Irene, Ashley’s mom.
