DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — An arrest has been made of a suspect accused of hitting a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy and then fleeing the scene.

Obed Rodriguez, 18, was arrested at his home in Denver Tuesday.

Deputies were investigating an underage alcohol party in the area of Pendleton Drive in Highlands Ranch around midnight on November 24.

A deputy was conducting interviews near the road when a vehicle with its headlights off hit the deputy before he could get out of the way.

The Sheriff’s office says tips through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers and its own investigation led to Tuesday’s arrest.

Rodriguez was in custody on $100,000 bond. He faces charges including attempted first degree murder and assault.

The deputy had minor injuries.
