AURORA, Colo. – Police shot an Aurora man early Sunday after he reportedly pointed a shotgun at officers, the Aurora Police Department reported.

About 5 a.m., police responded to a call of a man brandishing a shotgun during a domestic dispute in the 1700 block of Jamaica Street, APD said. By the time they arrived, the male suspect had driven away.

But a few minutes later, an officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle nearby and began following him, APD said. When backup arrived, the officers pulled the man over in front of the original home.

The man “became uncooperative and failed to comply with repeated orders and warnings given to him,” APD reported. After 40 minutes, the suspect allegedly pointed a shotgun at officers, who fired on him.

The suspect was hospitalized and was expected to survive APD said. No one else was hurt.

An investigation was ongoing.
