DENVER -- Norma Olivas-Domiguez has big dreams.
She wants to be a registered nurse one day. Her inspiration? A beautiful new baby boy who keeps her very busy as a young mom.
Norma faces special challenges as a single parent, so she's receiving a helping hand from Fox 31, the Mile High United Way and the Rita B. Salon. Norma needs a new job right away and looks forward to interviewing, but she wanted a new look that would make her feel more confident.
Fox 31's Everyday Show arranged for Norma to enjoy an ambush makeover at the Rita B. Salon, where Stefano DeCarlo and Matt Vitale designed an elegant and professional look. That involved a cut she could quickly style while rushing to take care of her baby and a new hair color to add a little spark.
Norma hasn't had the time or money to visit a salon, so she really enjoyed all of the pampering.
"I love it," she said. "Now I can look great and do everything else too."
Norma is part of the Mile High United Way’s Bridging The Gap program that helps young adults transition from the foster care system into adulthood by helping them find housing, providing educational support services, and financial management/asset building.
