The airport has 500 trained snow removal personnel available to work 12-hour shifts. The first ones started at 3 p.m., said spokeswoman Julie Smith.

DIA also has about 270 pieces of snow removal equipment including snow blowers, plows, snow melters, sand/liquid spreaders, loaders with box plows, tractor-plows, bobcats and bobcats with box plows, Smith said.
