AURORA, Colo. — Police were on the lookout for an Aurora girl who was reported missing and last seen on Monday night in her pajamas. Shortly after 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, police confirmed the girl was found.

Earlier Tuesday morning, Aurora Police confirmed they were searching for the missing 8-year-old girl, and identified that girl as Maria Burkhart.

Police said Burkhart was last seen in her home at East 1st Avenue and North Nome Way, which is close to Aurora Hills Golf Course, at around 8 p.m. on Monday night. Burkhart’s parents told police they put their daughter to bed at that time, and when they got up Tuesday morning, she was not there.

One of the family’s neighbors reportedly called police later Tuesday morning to say they had found Burkhart and that she was safe.

Aurora Police said their officers had found no signs of forced entry at Burkhart’s residence as of Tuesday morning.
