ARVADA, Colo. — Residents near Terrace Park in Arvada were awoken by the sound of an explosion Saturday morning, police said.

The explosion happened around 5:30 a.m. One resident said they saw three juveniles running from an area of the park and then saw a small fire, said Deputy Chief Gary Creager.

It’s believed the fire came from the explosion, but investigators have not yet determined what exploded. Fire investigators are on-scene, Creager said.

A trash can and some bushes were damaged. A small part of the park was closed while police investigated.
