COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A 28-year-old Fort Carson soldier was arrested Saturday after he allegedly climbed into the back of a woman’s car and threatened to hurt her unless she started driving.

Staff Sgt. Matthew Warren was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of attempted second-degree kidnapping.

Warren allegedly approached the woman and climbed into her parked car near Acacia Park in Colorado Springs, threatening to hurt her if she didn’t start driving.

The 30-year-old woman jumped from her vehicle and ran away about 12:30 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department reported. He followed her and punched her in the face before taking off himself, police said.

Warren was arrested after police received a tip from a cab driver in the area, CSPD said. He is a member of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
