Police arrest Boulder woman in case of puppy with broken legs, burns
BOULDER, Colo. — A woman was arrested in the case of a puppy that had broken legs and severe burns on its stomach authorities announced Friday.
Police arrested Caitlin Lesko, 24, on charges related to cruelty to animals Thursday.
On October 29 police were called to South Boulder Animal Hospital on a report from staff about a dog that may be part of a case of animal cruelty.
Officers found a 3-month-old French bulldog with two broken hind legs and third degree burns covering half of its stomach.
“Lesko claimed the dogs legs were injured before she purchased it and admitted she burned the puppy by placing it too close to a heater to keep it warm,” a statement from Boulder Police says.
Lesko took the dog to the animal hospital for its broken legs but said she couldn’t afford treatment for the burns. She surrendered the puppy to police on November 2.AlertMe
