ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas joined some exclusive company when he caught three touchdown passes in Sunday’s win over the San Diego Chargers, and he was rewarded as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts on Wednesday.

Thomas tied the Denver Broncos franchise record by catching three touchdown passes in a game. He caught seven passes on the day for 108 yards in all.

After the three-touchdown game, Thomas also brought himself into a three-way tie with teammates Julius Thomas and Wes Welker, who all lead the AFC in with nine touchdown receptions this season.

Threes tended to be the theme with Thomas’ week, as his being named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week marks the third time the honor has been bestowed upon a Bronco this season.

However, this is the first time a Broncos wide receiver has received the award since 2009, when Brandon Marshall set an NFL record by catching 21 passes in a game.
