DENVER — A man was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly crashed his car into a traffic attendant and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase down Interstate 25, the Denver Police Department reported.

Jeremy Irey, 25, was allegedly the driver of a silver 2005 Audi that hit an off-duty police officer directing traffic at Pepsi Center during a concert by pop artist Rihanna, police said.

The collision occurred about 8:28 p.m., leaving the officer with minor injuries.

The Audi left the scene, but was spotted northbound on I-25 near 20th Street. Police pulled the vehicle over there, but the driver took off, reportedly weaving through freeway traffic, with police in pursuit.

The Audi crashed into another vehicle near the I-25 and 1-&0 interchange. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

No serious injuries were reported in the freeway crash.

Police closed the intersection for about an hour, and restrictions were in place for much of the evening.
