Colo. GOP senate candidate Owen Hill not apologizing for ‘birther’ comments

DENVER -- Colorado state Sen. Owen Hill, one of four GOP candidates hoping to challenge U.S. Sen. Mark Udall next fall, is trying to explain his "birther"-style comments at a Republican breakfast last week after they were reported Thursday by BuzzFeed.

At a Denver County Republicans breakfast last Friday, Hill, according to BuzzFeed, was talking about his time working in Nairobi slums for the Christian group Compassion International, said this:

"You spend time out there [in a Kenyan slum] and little kids are running around barefoot in these kinds of streets and you ask them what they want to be, they want to be an astronaut, they want to be a physicist, a marine biologist, one kid even told me he wanted to be President of the United States. I held back my snarky comment that said ‘Well, you know what, we already have someone from Kenya as President of the United States.'"

Audio of the remark was captured by a Democratic operative in the room and obtained by BuzzFeed.

Hill quickly responded to the report Thursday morning by trying to brush off the story as an overreaction.

“The fact that my obvious joke is being highlighted today just shows how worried Mark Udall and the Democrats actually are of my campaign for the U.S. Senate here in Colorado," Hill said in a statement.

"These are the typical sleazy tactics used by Mark Udall’s radical operatives who are scared of losing their go to guy in Washington DC. Such dishonest antics show how desperate the Mark Udall machine is over losing its stranglehold on our economy, diverting folks from focusing on his inept Obamacare rollout."

The comments are reminiscent of those made last year by Congressman Mike Coffman, who told Republicans at a campaign event in Elizabeth that he didn't think President Obama was an American "in his heart."

Those comments, posted to YouTube by someone who attended the event, not a Democratic operative, were seized upon by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee; and Coffman was forced to apologize.

With Coffman now among its top 2014 targets, the DCCC wasted no time putting out a statement Thursday.

"Apparently Owen Hill is seeking the Mike Coffman endorsement because Owen Hill and Congressman Coffman are two birthers in a pod who use hateful and false birther rhetoric when they think no one is watching," said Brandon Lorenz of the DCCC.

"Owen Hill clearly comes from the Mike Coffman tea party wing of the party which will be rejected by voters in November because it does not represent Colorado values."

“Democratic Operative” – Just like Hitler’s Brownshirts. Only more proof we are at war with socialist totalitarians who have plans to undermine our traditional liberties.

Tough talk for a man whose party just lost Amendment 66 lol, and almost every school board race in the state, and whose party is driving some counties to vote in favor of secession, and whose senators are being recalled. Sooo, whose party doesn’t represent Colorado values again?

Why are you morons still touting the Republican “Victory” in school boards. School boards are non-political. When one political party gains complete dominance over education, that’s never EVER a good thing.

Pick up a history book and find out why.

Who are you to say his values will not be excepted by Colorado people? It’s most liberals that have given our once great country a bad name.. This man speaks the truth just like Coffman did. We have a President who IS NOT a true American and we the TRUE Americans are sick and tired of Obama and his puppets!!! Don’t speak for all Americans because from what I have been reading and seeing, there aren’t so many Americans who care for Obama, and would like to see him impeached. That includes many people from Colorado. This is America, not a communist country, and those who still love Obama and the decisions he has been making, well, shows who really cares for the U.S. and who would rather follow the communist ways.. There are many, many people that voted for Obama who now realize they shouldn’t of. Wake up you who are still ignorant!!!

This has been the most deceptive president in the nations history. Why does he have so many of his records sealed?

    What is he hiding?

So what? Anyone who believes Obama was born in Hawaii is also a birther; they just don’t realize it.

Re: ” claimed Kenyan birth in his bio for one of the books he is credited with writing.”

Answer: Obama did not claim that. The literary agent for the book wrote it, and did not check it with Obama, and has admitted that it was her mistake. Obama did not say that he was born in Kenya. His book “Dreams from My Father” says right in it that HE WAS BORN IN HAWAII—which is where his birth certificate shows that he was born, and the birth certificate has been confirmed by the officials of BOTH parties in Hawaii (and by the public Index Data file and by the birth notices sent to the Hawaii newspapers by the DOH of Hawaii in 1961—and only the DOH could send those notices, and the DOH only did so for births in Hawaii).

Moreover, the government of Kenya said that it investigated the “born in Kenya” story and that it is true.

Owen Hill needs to stop being politically correct. Over half the people in the US KNOW Obama is a fraud and infiltrator and is definitely NOT in favor of America. It is time the Republican party either acted (not just talked) like it was different than the democrats, or simply join them, and let the blind sheeple finally see that there is ZERO difference between the Reps and Dems. It is time to speak plain, true and to hell with politically correct mish-mash pablum that the perverted media and government continues to feed on and feed the public who is clueless. If those who truly believe we are in trouble, and love freedom and this republic would simply begin to talk very strong, be very courageous and step forward, they will see a ground swell of people who want the truth stated plainly, and these domestic terrorist groups and traitors stopped in their tracks. Wake up America!

The Birthers/ Teabaggers have no evidence that would stand up in a court of law in the United States. To all the Birthers in internet land, its upon you to prove to all of us (the majority) that what you are saying is true. Take it to court you bunch of cowards!

Let me be clear none of these Birther/ Teabaggers dullards have taken there “Birther Documents of facts, more like lies” and none have won a case in the “U.S. Courts”, maybe in their simple minds (if they have any) but not in our “U.S. Courts”, so unless Birthers/ Teabaggers, whatever you want to be called, win a court case, we will continue to see as dullards, liars or racist or maybe all three. Deal with the real truth baby!

To all the Teabaggers / Birthers/ Chicken Littles that keep saying that the sky is falling, and the Unites States will fail, never count against the United States of America, we are coming back and you and your losers are wrong!
