The St. Louis Rams allegedly reached out to Brett Favre on Sunday night after losing Sam Bradford to a season-ending knee injury, according to a report.

ESPN is reporting the Rams asked if the 44-year-old retired quarterback would be willing to play through the back half of the Ram’s schedule.

Favre allegedly told the Rams through his agent Bus Cook that he was retired, and declined the offer. The Rams ended up signing Brady Quinn and brought back Austin Davis.

Favre initially retired after spending 16 years with the Green Bay Packers, but came out of retirement once to play for the New York Jets and a second time to play for the Minnesota Vikings.

He had productive seasons for Jets and the Vikings, leading the Jets to a 9-7 record in 2008 and the Vikings to the NFC Championship game in 2009. But his final season with the Vikings in 2010 was a bit of a disappointment, as his NFL-record streak of consecutive starts was snapped at 297 when he suffered a shoulder injury.
