DENVER — A passerby helped a police officer restrain and arrest an armed suspect Sunday afternoon on Federal Boulevard, the Denver District Attorney’s Office reported.
Officer Wesley Kvasnicka was responding to a report of two men dragging a woman into a house near North Federal Boulevard and West Third Avenue, police said.
Kvasnicka found the men, but one, later identified as 40-year-old Ramon Cerna Resendiz, ran.
Kvasnicka caught up to the suspect and the two began fighting. An unidentified witness joined in, attempting to help the officer, police said.
At some point in the struggle, Resendiz produced a pistol and held it with his finger on the trigger, police said. Kvasnicka was able to pin the suspect’s arm to the ground while the bystander pulled the weapon from his grasp.
The bystander also helped handcuff the suspect.
Resendiz was charged with possession of meth, attempted assault on a peace officer and possession of a stolen firearm.AlertMe
