Mike Durand went looking for sharks off the coast of California and managed to get up close and personal with a Great White Shark.

Durand said he heard large sharks were spotted off the coast of Manhattan Beach, so he attached a small camera to his helmet and set off on a paddle board.

He spotted the junior Great White Shark and followed it. At one moment the shark swam right up and under his board.

"It's exciting. I like to live on the edge," Durand said. "I like to surf good-sized waves and do things that scare me a little bit. It makes me feel alive, so when I saw the shark, I was like, aww, there it is. That's the footage I've wanted to get. I will pursue this shark a little bit. I didn't know he would pursue me."

This shark was estimated to be between four and seven feet long.
