DENVER — Rumors have been swirling that Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio has been the favorite to become the head coach at the University of Southern California. Lane Kiffin was fired from that job last weekend.

Del Rio made it clear Tuesday he’s committed to his job with the Broncos, at least for the rest of this season.

Del Rio is a USC alum.

He led the Broncos to a top five overall defense last season and currently has his squad ranked number one in the NFL in overall rush defense.

Kiffin was fired early Sunday morning at the airport after returning from a 62-41 loss at Arizona State. The Trojans are 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the PAC 12. Assistant Ed Orgeron was named interim head coach at USC later Sunday.
