DENVER — A woman was seriously injured Saturday after a traffic accident that sent her car tumbling into the back yard of a house.

The 21-year-old woman was driving west of 6th Avenue near Peoria with a 27-year-old man in the passenger seat and two very young children in the back seat, the Denver Police Department said.

The woman, apparently blinded by the sun, rear-ended a stopped truck, police said. The woman’s car then struck a curb and rolled into a nearby yard. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was launched from the vehicle, landing on a sidewalk. The man and the children, ages 1 and 2, were restrained and had to be freed from the wreck by emergency responders, police said.

All four people were hospitalized, but it appeared that the driver was the most seriously injured. Alcohol was not thought to have been a factor.
