Man killed after dump truck rolls over him near flood area

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A dump truck driver who was delivering gravel to an area damaged by flooding was killed Wednesday when his truck rolled over on him, officials said.

Colorado State Patrol said the incident happened just before 1:30 p.m. on a county road near Highway 72 and Plainview Road.

According to FOX31 photojournalist Ama Arthur-Asmah who was at the scene, the driver of the dump truck was bringing gravel to a closed flood site to repair the road, when he stopped to check on his vehicle. When the man stepped out to the back of the dump truck, it rolled back onto him.

Police dispatch indicated the man was pinned under the truck’s wheels.

The identity of the man was not released.
