Airborne heroes save hundreds stranded by massive Colorado flooding

DENVER -- They have flown hundreds of missions to bring stranded Coloradans to safety following unprecedented rain and destructive flood in the state.

They're finally starting to get some recognition for their heroic work. But to the men and women of the U.S. Army and Colorado National Guard, this is just a part of what they do.

The urgency for their services has passed, but they'll be on stand-by for the next month, just in case they need to launch into action to save more lives.

FOX31 Denver's Lance West met up introduces us to them in the video report above.
