COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police in Colorado Springs have arrested a suspect accused to shooting a pregnant woman.

Lakeisha Jones, 32, was shot and killed Monday morning in her apartment on Reeve Circle in the south-central part of the city.

Doctors were able to deliver her baby, who remains in critical condition, said Barbara Miller of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Tuesday police arrested Andre Jones, 32, of Fountain on a first-degree murder charge.

Neighbors told the Colorado Springs Gazette that Lakeisha Jones had just moved into the apartment with three children.

Miller said her death is the 23rd homicide in the city this year. Last year there were 22 homicides (19 at this time).
