BOULDER — An adult female bear and two cubs were spotted hanging out in a tree in a back yard on University Hill Tuesday morning.

Wildlife officials said they were perched in a tree in the 1100 block of Aurora Avenue after they were attracted to the area by trash in the neighborhood.

According to the Daily Camera, the mother bear was previously tagged in October 2011. Officials said she would be put down if wildlife officers have to intervene.

Authorities did not say what would happen to the cubs if action is taken against the adult female.

Wildlife officers said they would continue to monitor the bears throughout the day and wait to see if they come down from the tree on their own.
