DENVER — Officials charged a 91-year-old woman after they said she caused a crash that killed the driver of a motorized scooter on Saturday.

Deborah Hudes, 53, was waiting at a red light in the 700 block of north Quebec Street at about 2:45 p.m. when she was hit from behind, according to police.

Police said Marjorie Ewers, 91, was headed northbound at the intersection when she failed to stop at the light and hit another car, causing it to crash into Hudes’ scooter.

Hudes was taken to Denver Health Medical Center for her injuries, and was later pronounced dead.

Ewers has been charged with careless driving resulting in death.
