NORTHGLENN, Colo. -- A Northglenn police officer shot a suspected burglar who was armed with a knife and rushed at police Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to a home on Fowler Drive near Malley Drive on a report of a burglary.  A woman inside a home said a man with a knife was trying to get in, police said.

Police confronted the man and ordered him twice to drop his knife, police said. The man refused and at one point rushed at police, they said.

That's when one of the officers shot the man, police said.

The suspect's condition has not been released. He survived the shooting and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No other injuries have been reported.
