DENVER — A Denver police officer shot and injured a dog who had attacked a woman and her dog in west Denver Friday morning.

Police said the woman was walking her dog on S. Patton Court, which is near W. Jewell Avenue and S. Lowell Boulevard.

Another dog described as loose and vicious attacked the woman’s dog, killing it, police said.  The woman was also bit. Police said her injuries were minor.

Officers and paramedics arrived and the second dog charged an officer, when then shot it. The dog was hit in the shoulder, police said.
