BERKELEY, Calif. — The most famous freshman to hit campus in a long time is starting school, and took time to meet the northern California media Wednesday.

Colorado’s swimming superstar Missy Franklin is excited and enthusiastic about moving to Berkeley and swimming for the Cal Bears.

She moved into a dorm Sunday and has had a great time hanging out with her roommate, who is also a freshman swimmer.

Franklin arrives at Berkeley after winning a record-setting six gold medals at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona earlier this month.

She plans to swim for the Bears for the next two years, and train for the 2016 Summer Olympics as well before turning pro after those games.

She intends to get her degree from Cal, but like thousands of other college freshmen, she just doesn’t know in what yet.
