Missing child found safe in southeast Aurora

AURORA, Colo. -- Aurora dispatchers confirmed that police were searching for a missing child Friday morning.

According to dispatchers, the 2-year-old was reported missing sometime before 5:50 a.m. in the area of East Iliff Avenue and South Tower Road. As of 6 a.m., Aurora firefighters were also called in to assist in the search.

A short time later, emergency scanner traffic indicated the child might have been found safe near Side Creek Elementary School at 19191 East Iliff Place. Those reports were confirmed around 6:10 a.m.

A short time after, the 2-year-old was seen being loaded into an ambulance on the scene. A short time later, Aurora Police tweeted that the child had "apparently wandered off."

"No charges likely," the tweet continued. "But we will continue our investigation."
