Jennifer hikes to Mt. Crested Butte.

Crested Butte is called the Wildflower Capital of Colorado.  Some of the wildflowers this time of year are waist high.  There are lots of great hiking trails but only one that takes you 12, 162 feet high to the top of Mt. Crested Butte.  That will give you a 360 degree view of the landscape dotted with wildflowers.

For a family friendly hike to the top, ride the Silver Queen Chair Lift to take the Summit Trail.  It is 1.3 miles.  You can add an additional 2.6 miles on the way down by heading over to the Red Lady Express.  If you hike all the way down to the base from the top of Silver Queen Lift, it adds 4.9 miles and a 2075 foot vertical descent.

The weather can change quickly so make sure you have rain gear, extra layers, snacks, , water, and sunscreen in your backpack.
