FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A semi-truck hauling ice cream was one of three vehicles involved in an accident that closed Interstate 25 near Fort Collins Thursday afternoon, the Colorado State Patrol reported.
The accident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. near Mountain Vista Drive, caused significant traffic delays along I-25, CSP said.
The Coloradoan reported one truck headed south on I-25 rear-ended another.
The collision caused the trailing semi to careen into the west side of the road and catch fire. The leading truck stopped on the road a few hundred feet away.
Neither driver was seriously hurt, trooper said.
Firefighters worked to put out the fire, which destroyed the semi and much of the trailer. Smoke from the fire was visible from Fort Collins.AlertMe
