DENVER – This weekend promises to provide showers of all sorts for the Denver area.

In addition to rain showers, astronomy buffs are in for a treat this weekend as the Perseid meteor shower should provide a good reason to stare at the night sky.

The best viewing should be on the nights of August 11 and 12.

Actually the show started over this past week, but is building to a finale this weekend.

Experts recommend a dark, open sky for optimal viewing pleasure.

Also remember that your eyes may take up to 20 minutes to adjust to the darkness.

The meteors fly across the sky in numerous directions, crossing in front of multiple constellations. If traced back to their point of origin, the meteors emanate from a spot in front of the constellation Perseus.

The best views will be had in the pre-dawn hours this Sunday or Monday night. Pack your lawn chair, find a dark place and enjoy the entertainment from space.
