CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- A mother of three was murdered inside her apartment in Centennial Wednesday night.

Thursday, her friends gathered and wondered if they or someone else could've done more to prevent it.

Police discovered the dead woman, 39-year-old Katrina Pacheco, inside an apartment shortly after responding to a scene where a man said he had killed someone.

Deputies were called to the Centennial East apartment complex in the 14400 block of East Fremont Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. Callers were reporting a man in the area had made statements about killing someone.

When deputies arrived on scene, they contacted and detained the man in question, 28-year-old Arthur Price.

He was booked without bond on charges of first degree murder, assault, violation of a protection order and other crimes.

Pacheco's friends say she was very giving and had a good heart. But she had a dark past. They say she had a restraining order against Price, but she was seen hanging out and drinking with him upon occasion.

Her friends say the two were together Wednesday afternoon.
