LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The Lakewood Police Department has arrested a man they believe set fire to a residence in the 12300 block of west Viewpoint Drive, LPD reported Monday.

Lucas Piper, 22, was arrested late Friday after detectives received a tip.

The fire occurred early on July 27. Fire personnel responded about 5 a.m. and found the residence fully engulfed in flames. Further investigation revealed that there had been a large number of people at the house who had returned after a late-night concert. An argument between many of the people occurred.

Piper and Rachel Lewin, 21, left for a short while after threatening others at the residence, police said. Police believe Piper and Lewin returned and used flammable liquid to ignite the fire, which did moderate to extensive damage to the residence. The occupants were able to escape, with one suffering minor injuries.

Lewin was arrested at the scene, but Piper fled.
