DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- Some students headed back to school Monday in the Douglas County District.

Middle and elementary schools are part of a new security program that's based on the U.S. air marshal program.

The idea is for officers from the various police agencies in Douglas County to show up and check on the schools, unannounced, at different times during the day.

Parents say they think the program is a good one and they feel like it will improve the security of their children at school.

The marshals won't go to high schools since they already have full time resource officers.
