1 dead, suspect at large after rare Glenwood Springs shooting

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — One person was killed and another injured after a rare shooting Glenwood Springs late Wednesday night.

According to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the Riverside Cottages in Glenwood Springs around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Police found two individuals had been shot.

Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The other was transported to Denver for further care.

Police have identified the suspect in the shootings as Fredy Cabrera, 39, and he was reportedly still at large as of 9 a.m. Thursday. Cabrera is described as 5-foot-4, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Cabrera also may be driving a gold Toyota Tundra with license plate 256RNM, police indicated.
