FOREST PARK, Ga. — A would-be robber was shot early Monday when he tried to hold up an Atlanta-area Waffle House, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The suspect entered the Waffle just before 2 a.m., “brandishing a pistol and demanding money,” Union City Police Det. Gloria Hodgson said.

A customer inside the 24-hour diner drew a gun and shot the suspect, Hodgson said.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was hospitalized. His condition was not immediately available.

Hodgson said there were no other injuries in the incident.
