LAKEWOOD, Colo. — According to a tweet from Lakewood Police, an accident involving a semi truck and cyclist turned fatal Tuesday morning.

The accident took place near the intersection of Garrison Street and 6th Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. Police said a cyclist was riding in the area and collided with a semi in the intersection.

Police tweeted that Garrison and both eastbound 6th Avenue exit and on ramps were closed due to the investigation into the accident. Alternate routes in the area include taking Kipling or Wadsworth.

“Traffic will be impacted on Garrison for quite some time during investigation,” Police added in a later tweet.
