Man injured in crash into S. Platte River. July 19, 2013

DENVER – Police in Englewood report that a man was seriously injured after he lost control of his vehicle which went off the road and landed upside down in the Platte River Friday morning.

According to police the driver was speeding and they suspect he attempted to over-correct during a turn which prompted his car to spin out and rocket into the river.

The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. near W. Dartmouth Avenue and the Platte River.

The drivers identity has not been released and it is still unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Police report that the man was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The car remained in the waters for several hours.
