DENVER -- Alex Sullivan lost his life in the shootings at the Aurora Century 16 theaters on July 20, 2012.

His family is coping with their loss as well as possible. They will never let Alex be forgotten.

They spent time with FOX31 anchor Deborah Takahara now that it's been one year since the shootings.

In fact, they are instrumental in an organization called Aurora Rise, which has a goal of making a bad day better for those directly affected by what happened that night.

Aurora Rise provides financial assistance to victims who need it.
