2 in custody after stealing weapons, sending Pueblo deputies on chase

PUEBLO,Colo. — Two suspects are in custody after they reportedly broke into a woman’s home, stole thousands of dollars worth of weapons and sent deputies on a high-speed chase.

Pueblo County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 6200 block of Highway 78 West Tuesday just before 5:30 a.m. after a women reported that two or three men forced their way into her home and stole several thousand dollars worth of weapons and other items.

The woman was forced to stay in her bedroom during the incident, and when she finally broke free, she found that the family’s white Toyota was missing, and another truck was set on fire in the driveway.

Deputies later spotted the Toyota minutes later going eastbound on Highway 78. After chasing them through town, deputies attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, which flipped over going northbound on I-25.

One suspect fled on foot and another attempted to escape through the driver’s door, but both were taken into custody. Both men were taken to local hospitals.

I-25 was closed for a short period of time while deputies collected numerous stolen weapons and ammunition that flew from the car as it rolled over.

Authorities said the woman was not injured.
