2 hurt in van fire that caused 4-acre brushfire along HW 287

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Two people were hurt after a Volkswagen Minibus caught fire Tuesday morning sparking a small brushfire.

The crash happened along Highway 287 north of Fort Collins around 9:40 a.m.

The fire spread to the grass to the side of the roadway and burned about 4 acres, said Poudre Fire. Most of the grass that burned was dried-out

A driver passing by reported seeing flames as high as 5 feet, reported the Fort Collins Coloradoan.

The cause of the vehicle fire is still under investigation.
